Story: 8/10
It's not everytime we see a investigation/horror story, and it's a genre we have to be carefull, it's not just killing people after killing people, there's clues to be found and analized. But The Silence of the Lambs did that very well. It tells the story of Clarice Starling and her investigation in order to find the killer known has Buffalo Bill. She has the help of another serial killer, and former psychiatrist, Hannibal Lecter.
Characters: 9/10
Hannibal is by far the most interesting character in the movie, and also one of the most interesting i've seen in cinema. Just the way he talks, the way he sees the other people and analazies them, it's incredible. The other characters are also really interesting, like Buffalo Bill and what made him do what he did, and Starling and her past. But it the end it all comes down to Hannibal and that's the reason people see this movie.
Gore: 6/10
If you're looking for blood this movie is not for you, since it's more of a mystery film. The closest thing to gore you'll see is the photos, and later a real dead body, of Bill's victims.
Special Effects: 8/10
There's not much use of special effects in this movie, and it doesn't need to. There's only two things I used to rate this, the first was the dead bodys, they were really well made, you could see they're flesh and it didn't look fake at all. The second one was when Hannibal eats the cop's face, it looked really fake, but since it's only one scene i'll not count that much.
Horror: 7/10
This movie lacks in horror, there's no suddent killers appearing and killing everybody, no ghosts to curse us or anything like that, it also lacks in phsicological fear, although it had some (ence being in horror movies category).
Overall: 7.6/10
The reason this score is so low is because as an horror movie it lacks somethings, and if you're looking for a good scare this wouldn't be the movie i'd recomend. But if you like intresting characters and story, not caring about the genre, then i'd recomend this movie to you, it's not a bad movie, it's actually one of the best.
